    Trouble installing V-brake pad shoes

I'm having a lot of difficulty inserting Shimano XTR brake pad shoes into the brake cartridge. Anyone have any tips for making this process easier?

I've been using simple green which has helped me get the pad in but the last 0.5 cm is a *****.

    TIA.

Possibly the cartridge is crimped a tad.

put it on with simple green as far as it will go, put the wheel back on and ride slowly while feathering the brakes to see if the rim rotation will push it in the rest of the way.
of course, i've never tried it this way before as mine have always gone in relatively easily...
