    Thank you Giro
    Let me try this again:
Landed square on my head - after breaking my clavicle - blowing the landing on a six foot jump.

My helmet is broken in ten places. I compressed two vertebrae in addition to the clavicle but this could have been a whole lot worse. Thanks to my helmet I limped away. Attachment 773376Attachment 773377Attachment 773378

My goodness, things could have been a lot worse. Take your time recovering, spinal injuries can go from bad to worse with just a little prodding. Glad to hear you came out alright all things considered.

    Thank you Giro
Glad you came away from it. I can imagine it pretty well. I had a friend do the same thing a couple years ago- lawn darted a drop and went over the bars, landing square on his head. Broke his helmet (a mid-range Giro) in 6 places and the compression separated four ribs: two in front, two in back. Knocked the wind out of him and he twitched for a couple seconds before coming to and spitting out half a tooth. Scariest thing I've ever seen on a trail.

I asked him what he was going to get for a new helmet, and he said "I'm kind of partial to this one."

Glad you're going to be ok. Sorry about the clavicle though, ouch.

There ought to be a collections of stories like this to drive home the point that you have to wear a helmet when you ride. I'm sure I've been saved severe injuries twice by them.
