    spd cleat question

A couple years back I bought a set of cleats off Ebay as a extra set in case I needed them.Well I just bought new shoes and put them on and clipping in seemed a little hard. When I got to looking at them I noticed the back outside edges were not taperd as they are on my other two sets I have.I have looked over the net and have not saw another pair like them. They are the same other than that and have Shamano SH51 printed on them.I put them on a grinder and taperd them like the other and it seemed to work better.I know they need time to break in also. But does anyone know why these are different?

The sh51 is the single release cleat, your probably used to the sh56 multi release cleat.

Yes both my old sets are sh51 also and are taperd. This set was not.Maybe the new set was old style?
