    Shame in womens helmet?
I struggle with this every time I go to buy a helmet. I'm a guy and I have a small head, 55cm, and the majority of helmets I try on are just too big or goofy looking. From what I've experienced 55cm falls into the small end of the sm/med sized helmet. so in order for it to fit you have to put a ton of pads in. that in turn leaves a huge gap between my head and the ginormus helmet. In my search for a helmet that comes in a size that fits 55cm on the high end in order to reduce the shim pads I have realized that womens helmets appear to fit the bill. excluding helmets that are covered in pink flowers and glitter, is there any shame in a guy wearing a womens helmet? that being said.. I'm open to suggestions for an XC helmet less than 300g
    Uvex Onyx for example

    Real men wear PINK!
If you can only find a womens helmet try to get your LBS to order one not so girly.
Or contact the manufacturer to see if they have any that aren't so girly.

A brain bucket protects your head no matter if you're wearing one for a woman or a man. I say, if it fits and provides good coverage, what's the problem?

In fact, because most men's outerdoors wear is boxy, I wear women's outerwear, if it fits better. The only person that has to know is you (or whoever you tell!).

The only reason it would be "shameful" to wear a women's helmet is if you find it shameful to be a woman. It's a hunk of foam and plastic meant to keep your brains in tact and nothing more. It won't make your dick fall off, it won't turn you into an "innie", and you're probably not going to develop an affinity for Summer's Eve.

My climbing shoes are a women's model and who gives a crap? "Man up" so to speak and get over it.

I have no idea how I would be able to tell if you are wearing a women's helmet or a men's....aside from some stupid paisleys or something.

I have a pin head and use a small/med Giro. I would wear the Helmet pictured no problem if it was comfortable. No way to tell if a Helmet is Women's unless its Pink or has a bunch of flowers etc.
I have bought womens gloves several times from the clearance bin at my LBS.

I wear a 'Sabrina Jonnier' Urge Enduro-Matic helmet (with pink pad inside!!!) and i couldn't give a stuff. It cost me about 45 quid less than the butch black model. I also wear Polaris womens 3/4 tights (5 quid a pair as opposed to 45).
There.... i feel much better for 'coming out'.

Have you tried the POC Trabecs? They all run very small.

I went and tried on the Giro Xar size small today and it was perfect. ordered a manly (jk) flat black color. lesson learned.. the universal fit or half universal fit (s/m, m/l) are no good for me

You can also try kid's helmets.
My daughter wears a small women's helmet made by Giro. The exact same helmet is available as Boy's model. The only difference its the graphics.

here's the thing. if it has a slot for a ponytail, and then your buddies figure out that you are just wearing a women's helmet in a manly color, they will give you much grief about it...

No shame in wearing a helmet designed mainly for a woman, if it provides the best fit for your head. I've seen several helmets where te woman's specific models looked nicer than the mens. That Uvex Onyx is a sharp looking helmet. I'm currently wearing a Uvex XP 100.
