Race Face Flank Leg 2013 vs Rally

My wife uses the Rally leg pads but I'm wondering if anyone has any comment on the Flank leg pads and whether they are any lighter and cooler to wear than the Rally. We're doing mostly xc trail riding and I'm thinking the D30 material is probably all she needs in terms of protection. Any thoughts?

I see lots of comments on the older style flank pads that are mainly knee and upper shin protection but no real comments on the newer style full leg pad.

How do you like the rally's johnny? I was looking at those as well. Are you able to pedal uphill with them on. Looking to get something for a very rocky area that I ride. But like the rest of the normal world it has no ski lift..lol

I found the Rallys comfortable to wear and you can ride with them up the hill. I have an older set so I think the strapping system has changed on the new ones. The do offer great protection but they can be hot on a warm day but I suspect most pads are. I usually throw them in the pack when riding uphill and put them on for the ride down. And I like RaceFace as a company and that's why I bought them. Can't really say I've had that much experience with other types of pads.

Johnny - I don't have the Flank but the Ambush kneepads, and they are flexible and fairly comfortable to pedal with.
