I was riding the Five Ten Chase (parkour shoe) and it was great until the uppers tore apart from peak-bagging. I decided a stiffer sole might be more comfortable for long days since I wouldn't be flexing my foot as much. I tried the Freerider VXI and I find them painful in the forefoot particular on longer rides. I think it might not necessarily be the stiffness, but the hardness of the shoe's sole directly under the foot. I'll be returning these and probably end up getting a bunch of shoes from Zappos to find one that works, but it would be nice to know which ones have softer padding under the forefoot and which fit well for wide feet.
The ones I'm looking at are Teva Links, Five Ten Impacts, Spitfires, and even Ascents.
Would you rule out any of these or are there others that would work well? Would I be best off simply getting another pair of the Chase?
