    knee/shin pads thigh straps?

I don't have experience with this so hopefully someone can chime in. I mostly bike in regular shorts. I've noticed some pads have a thigh strap, some don't - what happens to the knee pad if it's not strapped down and I'm wearing shorts? Do they just flop all over the place? Anything else to consider? Thanks.

The POC VPD 2 pads that I just got in are tight enough at the top on me to not need the strap. I suppose it depends on fit, and if you get the sleeve style or the style with two straps. The strap type lets you take them off and on without taking your shoes off, but may not be as snug.

I've tried several knee/shin guards, and the ones that work best for my are the Troy Led Designs knee/shin guards. They're sleeve types and doesn't slip around, and they don't limit your mobility when riding. They do get pretty warm though after a while.
