How should a fullface helmet fit and feel?

Hi I just bought a Bell Sanction helmet. It's a size med. the top of the helmet around the crown of the head fits fine.
But the face gaurd feels really tight. It squeezes my cheeks tightly such that it is difficult to close my mouth.
Is this normal? Is that how it should fit?
Or do I need to get a size large?

The cheeks should fit snug but you should be able to use your mouth. Do you have the chin guard aligned with your jaw? If it's angled too high it could cause discomfort.
