How often to you wear a full face helmet?

All the time? Never? I am torn between comfort and breathing of my XC lid when jumping, hucking and riding stunts and the full on safety factor of the full face helmet. But I just got the full face and I am having trouble adjusting to the new massive dome I am riding around with.

    What lid did you get?
Wear my full face when I DH or start going a bit big, otherwise I wear my little lid or.....gasp, horror........sometimes no lid when just pottling about.

Used to have one of those. Good helmet. As you get used to it it feels just like part of you and your neck muscles get used to the extra weight.

    ahh, the old helmet debate.

I wear my full face whenever I'm hitting something "big" for the first time (I usually wear all my pads in this case) and riding something where a crash could likely cause serious injury.

That said, the worst crashes/injuries I've ever suffered have been in places where I was super familiar and comfortable.

I haven't had health insurance for the past year. In that time my riding has progressed way beyond what could be considered low-risk. Now, when I crash, I can't risk smashing my face or busting out my teeth vs. inconvenience of being a little bit hotter than I have to be over the Summer months. You will get used to wearing it. It's to the point where I don't feel right without mine, unless I'm just trail riding or street riding.

I start the new job on Tuesday. New FF for me as soon as I get some $$$ issues in order. I'm rocking a Bell that I got for $39 (closeout!) almost 4 years ago.
    Nick.

nice. good feedback. If I bothered to buy it I should probably rock it. But I just need to get used to the feel.

Any time I'm on the mountain I sport the full face. If I'm climbing and I know it's gonna be awhile, I'll just sport helmetless until I hit the DH. Street I just sport my skate lid.

I wear my FF for everything but trail riding and urban. I almost feel more confident with my FF on than with out it because I don't have the thought of smashing my face lingering in my head before a large drop.

"Dress for the crash, not the ride"
It's not a good ride if you don't scare yourself at least once.

I once had the honor with riding with a certain free-rider, redbull rampage contender, co-owner of his own freeride/dh bike brand....and when he busted out his full face TLD lid, I asked him if this [mostly XC] trail warranted a full face lid, do you know what his reply was? "Always wear a full face. Always."

    Good advice!
I have no idea what I'm talking about...But yeah, that sounds about right.
