    Helmet weights?

I have a size Large head and I hate to ride with a heavy helmet, that makes my head ache.

But most brand only give their helmet's weight in the small size, making me hard to find the true weight of their size Large helmets.

Can anyone with a size Large helmet of the following models give me the true weight?

    1. Giro E2
    2. Giro Atmos
    3. Bell Sweep XC
    4. Bell Sweep R
    5. Specialized Decribel
    6. Specialized S1
    7. Any helmet that fits a size Large head, and is light and comfortable in your view.

    Thanks for any inputs!!

I previously used a LARGE Giro E2 that weighs 325g without the visor and 352g with the visor. Weightweenies has a medium E2 listed at 339g with the visor.

I now ride with a 2005 MEDIUM Specialized Aurora helmet. It weighs 277g without the visor and 294g with the visor. 291g is claimed on the label inside the helmet.

For what it's worth, I never knew what a good fitting helmet was until I tried on a Specialized. They're amazingly comfortable on my head. I rode for 4 hours yesterday on an upcoming (2 weeks away!) brutal 6 hour race course and never had to adjust or position the helmet. I almost forgot I was even wearing one.

I think the Decibel is a bit lighter than the Aurora, but I can't find a weight listing anywhere. You should just grab the digital scale and head to the LBS to weigh all the helmets and try them on before you decide what to get.

Personally, this is something that I would never consider for a weight reduction. Find the helmet that fits you best and stick with that. Or at least go with the company that fits best and then go for their lightest one. The comfort of a properly fitting helmet far outweighs the minimal weight saved.
