Gonzostrike - Vile, hairy-legged, non lycra-wearing, heavy bike riding scum!!

Please spare us your reverse elitism. My gosh, I thought roadies were bad! Their snobbery is nothing compared to some baggy short-wearing, No Fear, Mountain Dew commercial cliches, complete with Shaun Palmer tats and tongue piercings. No need to denigrate those of us who ogle over Eurogeek, ultra-expensive disposable parts because they shave 5 grams and make our bikes unrideable on anything other than the paved bike path in our gated community. Quite frankly, I think you're just projecting your own wishes and insecurities. Face it, you're just bitter because you don't possess chiseled steel quad pistons such as these, in all their stubbly glory.

23-lbs 6-Pack! Carbon fiber and Titanium everywhere!

    BTW - yes, I'm bored

    Patch,

I'm seeing a larger MOTHERLODE of a market for custom MTB frames made of balsa, for all you leg-shavers who think that you can substitute a light bike for time on the bike. what say you, Paragon of Pound-Peelers?

nice gams. But stick some baggies over top ... best of both worlds ...

Gonz, what about lugged frames - for strength and all - balsa with pine lugs? So purdy.

I think you're on to something, there. If you manufacture such a thing with a faux carbon finish, the weight weenies would be all over that. Will you include disc brake tabs on this balsa bike. If so, I just might have to get the dremel tool and shave those things off.

I'm almost dreading the direction this is taking, though. It's only a matter of time before I'm subjected to a discourse by DeeEight on the differences between shear strength and impact strength of balsa and pine.

T3, that's from my acting days, when I played Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp.

kronik, you are mighty disturbed, but in a somewhat entertaining way.

jason, I didn't know there was ANY hope for me, so if there is still SOME, I'd like to stockpile some in my Hope Bank. be sure to send me the proper transaction slips.

I'm going with Hope M4's front and rear for my hard XC bike... but I need some wheel and fork suggestions.

Forks should have 100-120 travel. And wheels should be slightly stronger than F519's.. but not much greater in weight. I want to keep the bike well under 30lbs.

Yeah.. this isn't the place to ask... so what.

Rockshox has a lot of "making up" to do before I'll ever consider them again... And Manitou still hasn't figured out the why and how of making a true oil bath fork... Marzocchi anyone?
