Full Face Helmet Question? Is there a difference

Is there difference that justifies the price increase in certain helmets?

    I see helmets ranging from $129 - $400

i know some has to do with materials (carbon fiber, etc) but besides weight savings are most MTB full face helmets the same? example fox rampage helmet vs bell drop, vs 661 evo, etc?

now moto helmets have dot and snell certs while fox's rampage and v3r (carbon) has CPSC 1203, ASTM F1952, AS/NZS 2063:2008, EN 1078:1997 approved

i have no idea what those are.. obviously fox markets different helmets for MTB vs Moto so do you really need the extra protection that a moto helmet gives? I wont be flying down at 50mph. What are your thoughts?

Im looking at a Fox V3R thats on sale for 189 but wondering if i can save 60-80 and just get a fox rampage dh helmet or any other brand w/o sacrificing protection

I have a Giro Remedy FF and works great, fits good , and it vents pretty good but its my only FF .. They have the carbon fibre edition on sale now too for a good price.. But ya I'm sure a Motor helmet will work prob a little better then just a mountain bike FF helmet but they are also a bit heavier i think and bulkier looking but i might be wrong ..

See if you can test fit a few different ones or find a company with a good return policy lol .

basically the more you pay, the lighter, better ventilated and padded, i love my fox rampage even in this hot Georgia weather, all up to personal preference considering they all have to meet certain standards
