New question here. Bug-spray stain on helmet

I recently got a brand new helmet and thoughtlessly sprayed a strong (40%deet) bug-spray on the back of my neck... as you can guess, some of that ended up on my new helmet...
The bug spray has since, had some time to set in, and taken away the helmets glossy surface.

Does anyone know how to clean this stuff off, or do I just have to live with it? lol
