    Better wear yer helmets!

Did an out and back from Coal Creek to Saratoga today, and when I was on the Peter's Creek Trail I came across a ranger writing a ticket to a guy not wearing a helmet. The funny thing was right when I passed them, I heard the guy say to the ranger "Helmets are gay yo". Made me laugh.

Anyway, good to see they are enforcing that!

Obviously not a hip ranger or else he'd know that helmets are gay, yo!
I love that line. I wonder how much the ticket is.

If helmets weren't required, i wouldn't wear one either. I feel my skull can take a 20mph tumble onto a rock...

I don't know, some guy at Skegg's told me it was like $200-$250. It's not cheap from what I understand, could be wrong though.

.......didn't do much for the body though!

To keep my passion fueled, I stopped in to check out new helmets today at a LBS. On the way we passed by a group of young kids sitting on bikes without helmets and I asked (with my arm in sling!!) where their helmets were? One of them replied "we don't got none"! I replied they sure saved me! Mentioned to them that I was pretty sure there it was a law that they had to wear them. They looked at me as if I was from Mars! Kids......

I confirmed in the bike store that it is in fact Ca. state law for kids under 18 to wear them. Curious to see if the rangers around my local trails will be writing tickets, hopefully to the parents if they are along on the ride.

I'm pretty sure they know its the law, I'm also pretty sure that they don't care. They were probably looking at you funny because they think they are so much cooler than adults and the last thing they want is to hear from you. Next time just direct them here...

From what i've heard the park rangers will write you up for no helmet no matter how old you are in some places. kinda makes me think twice about riding anymore, they will f**k with you for just about anything these days. It's not much better on the streets either.
