    bell exodus ventilation mod.

I picked up a bell exodus ff helmet at a swap meet for $15. i decided to make it more ventilated cause I'm too cheap to buy a good breathable ff. i cut out all the mesh from the outside and padding around the vent holes and this thing breaths like a regular helmet now. Went riding today in 82 deg F in very little shade and it was world better than my unmodified bell servo I've been wearing.

After spending all that time making my helmet breath better i crashed hard and smacked my head hard on some sandy hard pack. I took the foam insert out of the shell and there is no deformation or cracks. Is it still safe to use to protect my noggin?

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but....

The rule of thumb with helmets is that crash it once and then replace. You paid $15 for it, it owes you nothing.

Also seems like buying a helmet at a swap meet is a bad idea given you don't know it's history.

I'd further recommend that you not modify your next is designed to work a certain way, why mes with it?
