New question here. which would you choose?

it's time to replace to commencal meta 5.5.3. 2009.

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/...-bike-ec017320

i want a bike that is much better in descents and is not lacking much in uphill pedalling (compared to the meta)

    my choices are these below:

    http://www.konaworld.com/bike.cfm?content=coilair

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/...-bike-ec020325

    http://www.commencal.com/web/en/bicy.../meta/meta-6-2

    http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbi...ke.html?b=2091

    http://www.freeborn.co.uk/devinci-2010-hectik-2-sale

if you have any other reccommendation, feel free to post it! (suspension travel>150mm, bike weight<16kg, price about 2000-2500€ or 2900-3600$)

Your looking for the holy grail, Indiana Jones couldn't do it and you and most of us can't find it either. Finding a bike that is "much better" at descents and not lacking in climbing ability while slapping on a 1700 price ceiling will be tough. Just a thought, how bout stripping the parts off your frame and buying a new frame only. When you sell your commencial you could end up with a very nice rig under the price point your topping out at.

As for What frame to look for. Go to the search bar and type in, what bike should I get, that will keep you busy for most of the morning reading about a ton of quality choices. Everyone has their own opinion on whats best, test ride as many as you can and just chose what you feel right.

    Two things that are important:

    1. Indiana Jones did find the holy grail

    2. 2500 euros is around $3600. So yes, it can be done.

Ok, so he did find it, but it never actually ended up in his possession, I can get all nerdy on you when it comes to Indiana Jones movies

You want a bike that descends great and climbs like a mountain goat then look into getting a Felt Redemption or a Felt Compulsion. The equilink suspension is fantastic and really lets you put the power to the rear wheel making it great at climbing yet remains fully active so descending is also fantastic.

    Redemption series:

    Compulsion series:

    This explains how equilink works:

I have a Redemption and absolutely love it.

i don't mind the uphill ability so much.

i want a better descender than my meta, sacrificing a bit of the uphill pedalling abilities.

i feel that the felt, is not an upgrade from my meta.

Either the Redemption or the Compulsion is an upgrade over the meta you have. They both use better suspension technology for starters, and either bike starting at the "2" and up uses better components than what's on that meta.
