    Which used 140mm single pivot

Can anybody give recommendations of a 140mm single pivot bike?

Dont have the cash for a new one so will have to go second hand.
Other than a SC Heckler, what other options do I have?

That's a good question. Are you strictly looking for 1 pivot, or a four-bar single pivot like Kona? There aren't a ton of 140 mm single pivot bikes. You could look at a Cannondale Prophet, which is about the only other frame I can think of that you should be able to find relatively cheap. Morewood made the Shova LT, but I can't imagine that being easy to find for a low price. I love my 2006 Santa Cruz Heckler. I was looking for other 140 mm single pivot frames last year, and this is what I came up with.

Well I'm not completely limiting myself to a single pivot(although I would definitely prefer one for the simple reason,I just think the less pivots the less to go wrong/maintain)

So all other recommendation's are welcome as long as its a simple enough suspension design

    Well...

Orange 5 (but good luck finding one cheap)
Kona Dawgs from 2007 model onwards, nice frames, easy to find cheap.
Sinister Grutr (but like the Orange, hard to find cheap even used)
Cannondale Prophet/Prophet MX, another nice frame that's fairly easy to find.
    Yeti 575
Turner 5 Spots were single pivots for acouple of years too, they were lovely before Dave pedal-feedback stuck his boots in.

Can't think of any more single pivot based designs that are easy(ish) to find second hand, but surely there's enough there.

I would ignore the SP issue, I would simply look for a good 130-150mm travel frame, and rock it. Other than a basic SP like a Heckler, they all have the same number of pivots to worry about. lots of options, from Stumpjumpers, Remedy, Pitch, Enduro, Prophet, Kona Dawgs, etc, etc.

Ton of good frames from the past few years.

I do like the Kona Dawgs alright, especially the 08 one(also I suppose Dawg would be a lot more wallet friendly than a Heckler) .
They seem to get pretty good reviews all-round

    Prophet as said above!

    Pros:
very light, my L frame with shock - 2.72kg!
adjustable geo (for me it's super usefull, at home I ride in XC mode, on vacations in FR mode)
    pretty durable
    long TT
    can take 160mm forks
    Cons:
    a little flexy
    27.2 seat post
i dont know why, but me chain always fell off until I put a chain guide

PS If you are more specific about riding locations and your style, the advise would be more precise.

What size are you looking for? I'd PM you with some details of a Heckler for sale, but my ability to access my account is screwed up because of a period at the end of my name here.

If you are going to use a 1x9, there is a salsa El Kaboing in the classifieds. well spec'd and cheap. Their main downfall is chain suck, hence the 1x9 reco.

Might take a look at on-one too. There are a few Titus frames going for stupid low prices. Might be better to be irresponsible about the bills just this one time....

I hear you, although I did break a Ibis Szazbo apart at the pivot and get it compact enough to ship it via USPS to London a few years back

I have a Merida One-Forty. But I'm not sure if it is a single-pivot model.
