Trek Marlin 5 or upgrade to X-Caliber 7?

I purchased a 2017 Trek Marlin 5 this spring and ride the local trails. So far I enjoy this bike and seems to handle things pretty well, but I was wondering if it would be worth while to upgrade to a 2017 Trek X-Caliber 7 (for the better Rockshox fork and for hydraulic brakes, over the mechanical ones I have now)? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Not worth that upgrade, better off getting a better bike if your going to spend the money. The fork is only marginally better same with the brakes.

thanks, that's what I was thinking. I might as well ride it as long as i can, then go for a big upgrade, like a full suspension bike, maybe a Fuel EX 5.

I was just in the same position. I concluded at the entry level price point (I had a giant talon 29er) that upgrading was not worth the investment. I went with the trek fuel ex5. Now I don't have to worry about upgrading at this point.

    UPDATE:
I sold my 2017 Marlin 5 and upgraded to a 2018 Stache 5 over Labor Day weekend. The MSRP cost is 3 times more, but the bike feels/rides 10 times better (I can't stop smiling when riding this bike), it's unbelievable! I got the Stache 5 for 20% off too! This bike has handles everything I needed it to.
