    There is nothing wrong with extending lock on grips 5-10mm.
    I got some bad ideas in my head.

    10mm is less than 1/2", it's not going to snap off from hand pressure. Could be damaged from crashing though.
    I got some bad ideas in my head.

    I think the point is unless you have some ungodly wide hands, most of us grab toward the inside of the grip anyway.
