    suspension or rigid

DS1, 1x9, 26". Ill be using it for trail riding mostly. Im considering going rigid but was wondering if anyone has some advice on this. Ive heard itll make me a better rider. I also dont want to spend too much on a front end for suspension. Im rather new to MTBing and if I do go suspension would I see/feel a difference in using a stock suntour fork to a better fork such as a recon silver, bomber, or fox fork?

Yes you will notice a big difference... Really big. I like suspension and highly recommend it. I started riding before suspension forks and rode some pretty poor early examples. I consider the 'make you a better rider' comments to be complete crap. You'll just be slower and crash more and get sore wrists. Spend the money on a good fork.

I used to ride rigid on the Surly Troll. After a couple of rides, I've decided the wise thing to do is to get a decent front fork... ;-)

I have a rigid bike, and an air fork bike.

I ride both pretty often, but i prefer the air fork 9 times out of 10.

Rigid is fun, but not as fun as suspension to me.

Well then, suspension it is. Right now I have a suntour fork off a k2 zed. Would it be wise to use this until it dies then upgrade so I can feel the difference in a better fork?

Upgrade straight away if you have the money.

I second that, and highly recommend a RockShox air fork, any will do.
