I have used several Thomson x4 stems and know loads of people who use them without any problems. They are the standard.

Renthal have recently entered the mtb market and if you should trust anybody to make a good bar, it should be them. I have there stem, but it will be too short for you at 50mm.

I have a Spank 50mm stem and Easton Monkeylite carbon DH high rise on my Mojo HD. I'm 6 foot and 170 pounds. Love this combo.

There are so many good stems being made today. For me its just a personal preference. I like Black Market Underboss, Chromag, Thomson, Diety. There are a ton of them out there. If i had to choose one it would be the Chromag HiFi Stem and Fubar........

I just bought a Havoc from Jenson (65 mm - 10*) shipped for $35. If I like the length with my new Haven bars, I am going to order a Chromag Ranger stem.

out of you list the thompson/ sunline combo but my ideal setup would be the easton haven bar and stem.

all nice choices listed. I run a Transition Temple Lite w/ Deity black label bar. A buddy recently bolted an all Renthal set up.20mm rise Fatbar/50mm stem and their kevlar grips. Very very nice as well. sunline for the longer than 50mm stem needs is hard to beat.

I have run two cockpits with X4s and EA70s. No problems. Good feel.
Only when you mount a Thomson, better to use a torque wrench.
    Over-torquing can cause failure/cracks.

If I wanted something new, a Chromag or Renthal set would be my next choices.

Sunline V1 bars low rise. 711mm
    Thomson 70mm 0 rise stem - Trail
    Point1 50 mm 0 rise stem - Gravity

    I'm 6'2 - 210 and ride a large Knolly Delirium.

Great setup. Have been using it for 3 years.
However I am looking at some Chromag OSX black-chrome bars for something a bit wider for Gravity days.
