ya, i did kinda the same thing a few months ago, was riding down a boat dock, that was on shore, froze up at the last second, and hit the brakes. faceplated right into some pavement.
    havent froze up since.

nice little drop into underground landing on the first vid

I would give you a hard time, but being I wouldn't have even gone off of that in the first place, I am hardly in a position to comment. Glad that you are ok.

you gotta be kiddin me Daemon! when i started mtb i used to ride the spruit almost every day. started at Rivonia and ended at Emmerentia, I hope i got the names right. I used to dig that trail on my Kuwahara with rigid forks, lol. the Bryanston/Sandton streach was the best. by the way boetie this is like 16 years ago.
    I just want to ride.

Pardon my ignorance (i've never gone off any drops like that), but what exactly went wrong there? (besides the obvious fact that you crashed).

    BTW, glad you're ok.

Having done things equivalent to that (not necessarily off road but off stair cases and stuff) you have to throw your weight back on the bike right before your front tire goes off the ground. It didn't look like you did that and thats probably why you crashed - because your weight wasn't back enough.

And I've done that too at about 25 mph I know how it feels.

That's what i was thinking. it looks like the rider launched the front wheel off the edge, but by the time the front started dropping, the rear was still up on the ladder. more seed, leaning back more, or a small pedal kick may have helped.
When under pressure, your level of performance will sink to your level of preparation.
