Seeking fork choices for a fairly new Ventana El Habanero

I was lucky to find a '96 Ventana that has been garaged almost it's entire life.
The Halston Inversion Fork (going to sell it) needs elastomers AND the steering tube is way too short.
I'm clueless when it comes to all the available forks out there. I was looking at the Rock Shox Sid SL 80mm on ebay which seems to be a decent fork but have no idea if it would be a good choice for cross country riding.

    Any ideas?

hmm, so what do you consider a fairly old bike?

As far as suspension it is best to get the newest for you can get as manufactures often stop producing replacement parts. Even if they are fairly new... like 2004.
    Whats this line for?

    That's a good perspective.
I still feel overwhelmed by all the choices and especially so with looking at used forks on ebay or CL not knowing how much use they've had.
