Rock Shox Sektor TK Solo Air, should I upgrade?

How good is this fork? It certainly seems to work OK but my arms still take a hammering on certain surfaces.
Cobbles for instance, or rocky surfaces taken at speed, cause me to want to slow down.
On more undulating terrain without stutter bumps it is a lot better. The travel is 130mm and I am running the air pressure fairly low (70psi, at the bottom of the recommended range for my weight)
I tried dropping the pressure further but then got excessive bob when pedalling. But at 70psi I am still getting about 120mm max during a ride so am using most of the travel.

Now I only recently returned to mountain biking and I am unsure as to how much to actually expect from mountain bike suspension. It makes a big difference if you lock the fork out! So it is making things a lot better.
There is one part of my regular ride which is a steep cobbled track, on this the fork seems unable to keep up, although it is way better than no suspension at all.

But would there be a big advantage in upgrading to a better fork. For instance, the Rock Shox Pike is half the price I paid for the whole bike, in what way will it be better? Will my arms take less of a pounding on fast rocky descents or are the improvements elsewhere (more adjustments for instance)

The fork is fine. The main suspension comes from your body so, you have to use your legs and arms as suspension. Try not to be so tightened and move your body in order to absorb the vibretions from the terrain. So move your body and be more relaxed.

^what the op describes sounds like the fork is packing up or being overwhelmed. a different approach wont help that much.

Thanks, l will try it, the rebound is currently set at just below half.
Position 7 out of about 16.

    An update on this thread.

I reduced the air pressure to 65psi and backed off the rebound damping to position 3.

I also took advice and fitted the Motion Control cartridge (mainly for the remote lockout)

The fork is now working much better.

The bike is a 2013 Tanuki Deluxe FS.

    Shock is a Monarch RL

Sag is about 30% on the shock and 30-40% on the fork.
This seems to work well for me, l weigh 160lbs. When l get back from a ride the shock and fork have used pretty much all their travel.

Did you ever take it apart to check and see if there is a spacer limiting the travel from 140 - 150 mm? I have the same fork that came on my bike and from what i read i think it can have more travel. Mine works pretty good an I beat the hell out of it. If I could have a bit more travel I'd do it. Soon I will take it apart to find out.

Where would the spacer be located? I will have a look.
