    Question for Fox DOSS owners

Searched and didn't see this in any of the threads. I recently bought a new 5"doss. Took it out of the box and it looked short - measured and it's around the 4" mark. Box says 5" post and the post itself says 5 on the shaft. Question is do these come preset in trail mode? Any ideas why it's measuring 4? I couldn't find any info about this online or in the manual. Haven't installed it yet so I may give that a shot to see if it extends to 5". Post comes prepressurized so it's not that. Thoughts?

    Thanks

    Rob

Well I installed the post today. Popped up an inch once the cable went in. So that answers that.

What kind of shifters/brakes do you have and how well does the dropper lever interact amongst everything else? Curious about this post, really wanting one.

    Hi

I run SRAM XO1 with XT brakes. I am using the lever in an inverted position on the left side where a shifter would normally go. The lever is pretty big, and it sits at about a 40 degree angle inward. However once I got used to it I found it was fine. I used a Kronolog and Lev in the past. Liked the Kronolog, found the Lev to be horribly unreliable. The Lev had the best feel of the 3 though (when it worked).

    Hope that helps

I have mine on with the mount reversed, so that the lever is closer to the bars and it "feels" just like a shifter (I also have the 1x11). Mounted as you have it looks very awkward.
Edit: I didn't mean that to sound quite so judgmental.

His is what mine looks like too.

There's 3 positions for how far out you want it. When you mount it under the left bar you'll have to flip it around too. The manual shows you how to do this.

You'll need to flip around part #17 below if you want it like MSU Alum has it (opposite of how the pic in the diagram is oriented).

I'm running a DOSS with 2x10 XT (I know, SO 2012...) so the lever is mounted on top of the bars. I was really concerned about breaking the lever when I first got it, but haven't had a single problem with it. The lever looks gigantic, but it seems to keep out of the way in the occasional crash. Its also the easiest multi-stop dropper to hit IMO. As far as the post itself is concerned, I mounted mine at the beginning of last season, adjusted the air pressure to my liking, and haven't done a single thing to it since. It just works, consistently, every time. Pretty happy with it.

I'm running 2x as well, but switched my front shifter to a grip shifter so I could run the lever under the bar. Works great.

I just got my doss, and I got a question. When you pop it up, is yours really loose? You have to put a little pressure on the seat for it to lock in place..
