A one minute video from this evening's ride

I suck at climbing. I couldn't make it out of the creek crossing. Sux because I made it over the hardest part, the roots, on the way out, but gave out once I reached the flat rock.

That trail looks like a lot of fun.
    Low saddles save balls.

Looks like a cool trail. Is that a gopro you're using? Do you have any pictures of the mount? Is it clamped around the seat tube? I like that angle.

Yeah, seat tube mount. Contour HD. Here's a picture of the setup.

    Purdy bike
    Trails look fun!!
I think you would have better luck both down then up if you were standing? You seemed a little squirrelly trying to dodge rocks that I would probably intentionally run into/over to make it more interesting

Yeah, Monte Sano trails are always a blast.

I do the seat down/standing on the way down and seat up/sitting and spinning on the way up. Dropper post with a remote on the bar is bliss. I'm not really strong enough to stand and mash on the way up. And when I do anyway, I've been known to snap chains doing that.

I just need to work on my cardio.

Oh ok its a contour, cool. I imagine clearance would be more of a problem with a GoPro. That's a nice looking bike too.

Looks like a really cool trail. But I have to disagree with gabe on the camera angle. I don't like being 6" from your gnads.

not to critique your riding style but doesn't look like you put any english into your turns. could just be the video but maybe a less straight up-down riding style would allow you to carry more momentum through those slow turns. again, no offense and I could be totally wrong here.

Yeah, cornering on flat turns is definitely a weakness for me. I prefer giant berms, but we don't have them around here.

Steep descents and climbs are about technique and have much less to do with power and endurance (though they obviously help). Consider watch instructional videos for example Fluid Ride Like a Pro or the many good free clips all over the internet. Once you understand the techniques it just takes practice!
