    New Ride..... reflectors and all!

Just picked it up today and haven't gotten to ride it yet. I will update once I get it out one some trails. Got a great deal on it. I called around to all of the local Trek dealers and had them beating each other's prices since Trek is coming out with their 2012 models soon.

I got it for $2800+tax.... it is completely stock right now. I don't plan on changing much right away. maybe new tires in the near future. I picked it up in a medium. I was worried when looking on the site at the geo but it fits me well (I'm 5'9"-10"). can't wait to actually ride this thing!

would love a comparison between scratch and reign. I know they're different but i want the details.

btw would that down tube protector fit the reign?

The down tube on the Scratch is much larger than the Reign. I'm sure it would fit around it but wouldn't fit properly. My initial observation is that the Scratch feels more like a gravity bike compared to the Reign. It just looks and feels bigger. Noticeable weight difference with the Reign weighing 29lbs and the Scratch at 33.7lbs. Doesn't seem that far apart but I can feel it. The Scratch's Fox 36 is also not as plush as the Fox 32 on the Reign. The 36 feels sticky for some reason. I'm hoping that this is not a serious issue and will be resolved with some riding to break it in.

Ps the Reign is for sale if anyone is interested just haven't gotten around to posting it.

that is a nice ride, and yes you must take the reflectors off. the first thing that ripped off my new enduro were the reflectors. the second was the stupid plastic disc that specialized puts behind the cassette.after riding my bike a few times was i noticed the stem is to long for my taste and will changing out the specialized 60mm for my tried and trusted 50mm thompson. oh and added a specialized command post. hands down best add-on.

haha reflectors have been off since 5 minutes after that picture was taken. the bike is great! i am still having some issues dialing in the suspension though. this for takes a lot less air than the fox 32 on my reign and to tell you the truth it doesn't feel as nice as the 32. the rebound is giving me some trouble also. i am a 200lbs rider and the recommended pressure is 70psi. With this pressure though i have to have the rebound on max slow to even make a difference. i have talked to fox on the phone and they suggested some things to try but gave me the option to send it in right away if i wanted. i will try to mess with it some more and see if i can get it figured out.

yes and no....... i love the reign. it is an all around good bike. i wanted something a little beefier though. i started looking at the specialized sx trail and the reign x. stopped into the trek store one day and stumbled on the scratch air 8. i would keep the reign if i could afford to but i can't. since most of my riding consists of finding bigger stuff to jump, drop and ride i chose the scratch air.
