new to the forum so 2 birds 1 stone ....

    hi guys and girls,

new to the forum so firstly I want to say hello.

My work have just launched a cycle to work scheme. Im looking at 2 bikes the first one is a Felt 7 fifty Felt 7 Fifty | Cycle Solutions

The second is the Specialized Rockhopper Comp Specialized Rockhopper Comp 2014 Mountain Bike | Cycle Solutions

The riding I will be doing the majority of the time will be on the roads/flat off road but for the summer i would like to do more off road. I dont like hybrid or road bikes so im looking at these 2. Wondering if anyone can advise me on the better of the 2, im thinking the felt but need a second opinion.

    thanks in advance

    My personal preference...

I like a rigid bike for asphalt only. I also hate riding knobbies on asphalt. If you want 1 bike to commute and do some trail exploring, I'd look for a hardtail with a fork that can lock out (which both of those bikes have). Lock out the fork on the commute and open it up when you get to the trail. If you plan to commute by bike but drive to a trailhead, I'd look for a second set of wheels or have a second set of tires. One with knobbies for off road adventures and one road tire for commuting. Out of those two, I'd probably go for the Specialized just because it has a double front vs the triple.

Welcome to the forum my friend. You will probably get better advice on this question in the commuter forum, and, bike and frame discussion . . . this forum is more for the aggressive all mountain crowd

Whoops my bad thanks for the replies I will copy it over.

Okayh i will be ordering some semi slicks for the roads. If I went with the felt I wouldn't be able to do that. So maybe I am best off with the specialized.

    Thanks

If those bikes are my choices then I would get the Felt for sure.
Just stick it in granny and start grinding.
