    New Bike Time

Hello all, I've been riding on and off again since 2003 mostly during the summer. I usually ride single tracks with rocks and lots of tree roots, but my buddy has gotten me hooked on doing singletracks and small jumps. I have since become obsessed with going fast and getting more air, and I know my older Jamis Durango isn't going to hold up much longer. The trails around my house are steep hills kept up well. I was wondering what bikes I should be looking at for doing this type of riding? I want to stay with a hardtail and my price range is between 7-$800 here were some of the models I've been looking at:

    Jamis Durango 1.0
    Jamis Komodo 1
    Trek 4300 Disc
    Gary Fisher Kaitai

I'm leaning towards the Komodo, but I'm not sure if it will do what I need it to. Please Help!

I don't know much about the other bikes, but the komodo is a great AM bike that can take some serious abuse. I was looking to build one up but couldn't find a frame big enough for me on clearance. So I tracked down an On One Inbred 456........= )
Look, whatever happens, don't fight the mountain.
