New Bike -- GT Avalanche 3.0 Disc

Just got my new bike yesterday and I love it so far. I just have one question.. Are new disk brakes suppose to squeal if there is no pressure going to them? It happens if I am or am not peddling. Any ideas what I should do to remedy this squeak????

yeah, you need to adjust the pads, take it back to the place you bought it and they will adjust them for you

It seems to get worse when someone heavier than me gets on the bike? Related?

Bike was checked by a bike mechanic and he said everything was okay. Just that they were new and needed to be broken in. He suggested that I go down a big hill while riding the brakes. Is this a good idea? He also suggested that every few rides I should clean the rotors with rubbing alcohol. Is this a good idea too? Thanks.

No pics now, I just rode through thick mud and it needs a bath... horribly. Ill run down a hill and clean them with alcohol and report back with my findings.
