Need a nice Fork, Dirt jumping, All Mountian...HELP

I won some money at the casinos and I told myself that I would either buy a dirt jumping bike or some better forks for my bike. Basically, I have a Ventana XC bike that has been awesome for dirt jumping, street riding and bombing in the hills in Santa Cruz. Yeah it may break and yeah it isn;t meant for this or that....but I need a lil help for those who may want to avoid talking sh!t about what type of bike I am using for what I am capable of doing on it...I am a small dude so this bike is great for my build and light bikes are what I prefer.
    here is a pic...

I need a new fork. I am able to dirt jump and also bomb hills with an old Rock Shox SID. 4 inches of travel is amazing enough for me to feel comfortable on both applications. Any suggestions on a FORK TO REPLACE THE SID FORK ON MY XC BIKE TO BE USED FOR DIRT JUMPING AND BOMBING HILLS...a few things:

    ~I use v-brakes
~Got up to 400.00 to spend
~I like stiff bikes for smashing
~I live near both San Francisco and Santa Cruz (dirt and street hills are all around in every direction I go)

HELP, I have know idea of what the F&&k type off forks are out there. Seems like there are too many too look at to know what the hell to look for.

No offense man, but you have a great xc bike there with a very xc racer leaning build. I would _not_ try to be hitting dirt jumps on that bike. For your $400 scour craigslist, pinkbike, ebay, etc. and pick up a used P-Bike or dj ht. I got my used P1 for $350 off craigslist and it's bombproof-Marz DJ3, Profile Cranks, Surly SS rear hub, Ditch Witch wheels, etc. Not only will you not be breaking parts, but your riding will progress like you wouldn't believe. There is nothing more fun to cruise the streets and dirt on than a nice dj bike. You'll thank me later.

like TXPhisher said, go for a used DJ bike on craigslist...I've seen many in the Northern California--bay area, for great prices....also, you could plan ahead and buy a $600 bike, and then sell your Ventana, to gain the money back....

It's a biggie for sure and a lot of fun to ride, a lot heavier than any bike I have rode before. (Except for my downtown bar hopper, 1974 Shwinn Speedster) It is the SE DJ Flyer, stock with some hayes disc brakes and mazoorchi DJ3's, I cannot wait to go jump this thing.

Looks like he's hooked, go check out the urban dj park forum if you haven't already. Ventanas are sweet bikes too, now that you have a sturdier fork, and some other beefier parts, go see what she can do.

Those are some beautiful jumps. The bmx style gaps we had to learn on here just got dozed You might want to make sure you have the fork length on the Ventana set right -- too long will throw off your geometry. Might want to take a look at Tonic Fallguys next... those are sweet. Black Market is making a 24in specific frame called the Contraband soon though.

Flying man. The bike was mashing! Such a smooth ride. I could only imagine having 5 inches in the front and rear. Oh man....I need to either

    A. Get some disc brakes for the front to help slow me down because these forks are the **** and help make me mash!
    B. Find some awesome welder to put build me a new back triangle that would allow me to put disc breaks on
    C. Call Ventana and tell them that they need to do it for me so that I can continue to ride this awesome XC bike that was made in 1997. Handles great!!

Dunno I think I am going to go with A. Just have to be careful not to squeeze the left lever too hard!
