Need input for a bike for dad...

My dad (190lbs, 6ft, upper 50's...) has commissioned me to find him a bike for $2,500 or less (new or used). Now I know he doesn't like the feel of XC bikes, and prefers the feel of a slacker cockpit and more travel. I have some ideas, but I would like to get your collective input as well.

That being said, what are your thoughts? GOGOGO!!

Any Turner would do, maybe a used one for less. A 5 Spot is slacker than it used to be but climbs great and is solid for his weight. I'm heavier and it doesn't flex. Of course the Burner is its replacement in 650b wheels.
