My Brand New 2005 Heckler All-Hill Bike

I've been to the Mountains. The Smokies, at least in Pisgah Forest, are just big hills.

Soooo, more than X-Country, less than Mountain seems to fit

Found this '05 Heckler with Deore LX BB and Crankset, Fox Float R, in immaculate condition on Ebay. Had Carolina Fatz install a Rockshox RL DPC 150, Shimano M596 hydraulic brakes and a Cane Creek Headset.

All the rest of the components came from my Haro hardtail.

Picked it up late yesterday so only had time for a couple of miles but my 66 year old bod is loving the double-good suspension!

I'm not certain I like the necessity to bounce the krap out of the fork to shorten the travel for climbing but it really gets over big roots and rocks in a hurry. It also pedals more efficiently with the better bearing and I found myself climbing the smallish ascents I had time for in a bigger gear.

An awesome new bike makes me feel literally 60 years younger and in a few minutes in a crowded trail-head parking lot, this rig gathered a crowd.
