Marz, RS, or Fox?
Looking for some opinions here, as I'm planning on buying a new bike pretty soon here (Mojo HD) and want to get the perfect fork.
I've got it narrowed down between 4 different forks and would love some advice from as many people as possible.
Marzocchi 55 RC3 Ti
RS Coil DH
Fox Van 160 RC2
Fox Float 180 lowered to 160
Who makes the best fork? Maintenance does not bother me, all I care about is finding the best fork for trail/AM riding.
I have the HD with a RS Totem solo air and think you're on the right track with a 160. The 180 washes out in front if you don't get off the seat. I really don't trust Marz after a few bad years. Personally I'd buy a fox before the others because I've had really good luck with them.
With the tapered ht you can get a 1.125" steerer 180, use an internal, zero stack type lower cup and compensate for most of the extra a/c length. I've done the same thing on a smaller scale, running a 160 Float with 140mm rear travel. I've been pounding Fox forks (2 160mm Floats and a 40 on my bigger bike) for a few years with no problems to date, but have no time on Marz products so I'm no help there.
I'm about to order a Mojo HD frame as well. I am considering trying the X-Fusion Vengeance. I read that the 2012 model will have external 170/140mm travel adjustment. If I don't do that I will probably go with the Fox 36 float. I had one on my Nomad and was happy with it.
