New question here. Kona Mahuna vs. Jamis Komodo II

I'm wanting to buy my husband a used mountain bike for Father's Day. He is a beginner and I know nothing about what to look for! I have found a Kona Mahuna for $500 that is in excellent condition and a Jamis Komodo II for $550 that has been ridden hard, but is still in good condition. Only upgrade is on the Komodo's pedal's, but otherwise both are stock. Which is the better buy?

I am assuming these bikes are used which is fine but the key whether the bike fits him correctly or not.

It might be best to tell him you want to get him a new bike and show him what you found and then have him go and ride them, because if the bike doesn't fit correctly it wont ever be comfortable to ride.

It might also be worth while if you haven't to go and look at some of your local bike shops and see if they have any good deals on some new bikes.

Thanks so much for the advice. I did let him in on the secret today and he'll be riding what I've found to see how they fit :-)
