After a year of riding hard on this seatpost it seems like Ive developed some issues.
I'm hoping to find some advice so I can fix it so I don't have to send it off.
Its not a cabling issue or a stuck down lever. With the post takin off the bike and weigthed it will sink to its lowest position, and will hold the down position.
Anyone else run into this issue.
Dont want to go back to a stationary for any length of time if I can help it.
Thanks
josh
You could try taking off the seat and thoroughly cleaning out the top of post where the lever makes contact. Sometimes dirt gets stuck in there after a while and prevents that gizmo from coming back up to the lock position. If that doesn't work you can unscrew the top of the post from the shaft to see if it will lock without that on. When you put it back together make sure to use blue loctite. Next If that doesn't work thatn you will want to send it in unless your comfortable doing a complete tear down of the post which may or may not fix your problem... but it'll be a learning experience for better or worse.
Yeah I'll try the cleaning, that was my next item to try to remedy the problem. But I think its internal. But it looks like it completely snaps back inplace.
The seat post descends with weight or with any small bump. I contacted Rick. What was the turn around time for you. Was it covered by warranty.
Please keep us informed. I'm thinking of buying one, but would prefer an adjustable seat post that I can rebuild myself, assuming you just have a bad seal or something. There aren't many choices of adjustable seat posts with setback, so the KS is high on my list.

Its been a great post. I have it on an intense uzzi. I use it for AM, and DH. I have put it through its paces. With some knarlly wreaks and it has survived this long. I'm really surprised I haven't had any problems till now. Absolutely no play in it what so ever. Except the downward motion it has now.
I would like the GD but its fugly and pricey. But its easy to work on. Spring loaded. Nads popper though. A friend has one.
But with a lock out on any position is what sold me on the KS. Let you know how it all pans out.. I would not ride without it if I can help it.
I have the exact same problem. E-mailed rick at KS and have yet to receive an answer. Please keep this thread updated if you get a response or find out anything new!
Actually got my post surprisingly in the mail. Seems like its holding, gonna put it back on the bike today.
Really big minus on the communication on their end.
So far I sent post in and Rick has now decided not to answer any of my emails...Go with another company. I hope I actually get it back

Not picking an argument, just offering a little different perspective,
there seems to be only about 2 weeks between you sending the post in and getting it back,
why are you getting in touch with him in between that time? Seems like a pretty good turn around, more so when taking into consideration, postage times, and actual working days

Your right brotha. It was quick for the service. But when someone responds to your emails within an hour, an then nothing I got concerned. He didn't give an ra# when I sent it in. I just hurried an sent it off. It was the unknown I do not like. But you know a simple answer like, service is done on it's way or something like that would have been great. But it's all good now.
Thanks! I found that info also. I started to open it up using those directions, but hit an impass at removing the bottom retaining ring using the plier method. I then figured out that even if I did get it all open, and put back together, it likely wouldn't solve my problem. I decided to cut my losses and send it in!

PS My post arrived at KS yesterday. Not sure if I will hear anything from them, or if it will just show up in the mail when they are done like josht said.
When the post does not lock, I unscrew the collar, and tighten it again with the post at the lowest position. This method always works for me. I also find that "not locking" problem does not happen if I leave the post at the lowest position when I don't ride my bike.

any update on this? mine has started to develop a 1/4" "suspension post" syndrome. Shot an email to Rick to see what's up and if it's something I can fix myself or send in the post for a hydraulic unit fix.
Unfortunatly the problem persists. I talked with the e-shop i bought the post. They replied that they need about 5 weeks in total in order to have it back.
I will give a try with my local shop.
I bought my 'supernatural' Friday, did one ride with it in somewhat wet conditions, and now have a suspension post. ...totally bummed. At first it wouldn't lock at all, But after drying out over night, locking resumed except for the "bounce". For the record, that first ride with it was fabulous. It worked perfectly and didn't show any problems till I got home. I may return it and pick up a reverb. ...too bad though, when functioning correctly, it's perfect.
i also sent mine in to Rick and had it back within 2 weeks time, and im in canada.
