Smile Just acquired a 2007 Jamis Dakar XLT, Any Suggestions?

I just acquired a 2007 Jamis Dakar XLT, Is there anything that I need to be aware of and are there any things that I need to prepare for? Also do you have any suggestions for me?

    Thanks, Wally

I am still riding mine, an 05. After 5 years of riding at minimum 1 day per week, I broke the swing arm. It was out of warranty, but Jamis replaced it. Many also report it can take 650b wheels, but I have not tried. It is a great frame, the only real issue I had before the break was the seat post slipping. I would also ride the heck out of it.

I still have my '04 XLT 2.0 in the shed. Great bike. It has seen lots of use and a huge variety of trails and conditions, from long epic rides to days on lifts at Northstar, Deer Valley, and punishment in the bike park at Blackrock. Wasn't great at the parks, but it held its own. I don't ride it much anymore -- too much overlap with my Enduro -- but I'm keeping it around as a loaner or backup for the Enduro if the need ever arises.

Funny, I also cracked a chain stay out of warranty, which Jamis replaced for me free of charge.

Just monitor your chainstays but yes, ride the piss out of it.

My buddy built one up he got dirt cheap from Jensonusa.com. It is great! A little heavy for the up hills probably but man does it glide down with no fear. It is equipped with a pike, avid brakes and sram x9. It is way cool and he has "rode the piss out of it" and is still begging me to join him on some off road adventures.

I think you will find much joy in that beast.

Maybe they have a few laying around!

Either way, I'm not selling mine, when it is finally over, it will have lived a great life!
