    help with tire and tube

well i got a flat today and put in a new tube and as soon as i got it to the right PSI it split at the base of the stem. so i threw another tube in and the same thing. i have never had this problem. i tried both presta and schrader tubes with the same result. the rim is drilled for schrader. is the rim cutting the tube? i am using a hand put and have many times before without a problem. any idea on how to solve this problem?

sounds to me like there is a burr of metal that may be cutting ur tube.

As said above, check the rim by taking the tire completely off and looking for burrs or anything else that may be causing this. Also inspect your rim tape and make sure it is in place. You may also want to take the tire off and turn it inside out and look for anything sharp that could be causing your tires to go flat.

i agree with the burr theory. are you using a shim in the hole when you are using presta? if not you could bend or break a stem.
