I´ve been looking for a long legged fork for some time. The main objective is a RS Pike of course. The thing is that i live in Uruguay and a Pike is impossible to get here, so i´d have to buy it from ebay or the classifieds of mtbr or pinkbike, pay shipping and wait for about a month, and be lucky enough not to pay custom fees. Of course i´d have to pay for a 20mm front hub, which i´d also have to order.
I don´t have any problem with that, but this fork recently appeared in my country and for a very good price (~120usd):
It´s a SR Suntour Epicon 100mm fork. I didn´t like it at first because of the 100mm travel, (i´m trying to buy something with 140mm). However I saw in the suntour page that ALL epicon models have adjustable travel with internal spacers at 100 - 120 - 140mm, so i sent an email to suntour and they confirmed this.
The dilemma: I could get this fork really cheap, which has great reviews and the travel i need. I don´t have travel adjustability on the run, which kinda sucks but still, it looks good, and for what i´ve read it works awesome, besides, according to suntour´s webpage the epicon is an AM fork. AND, i´m no weight weenie... but the Epicon at 1,7kgs is über light and why not get a kinda light fork for my 14.3kg GT Avalanche?
Besides i could wait and maybe buy a pike next year and maybe sell the epicon or use it in another bike.
What do you guys think? is it worth it?
