    Help/Advice Needed Removing Shimano BB

Anyone have any advice on what tools and methodology are needed to remove this Shimano BB on my 80s Cannondale MTB. See the photo of the BB attached.

It's the same tools that the bike shop uses to work on the lower end bikes, there's a "hook" took to take off the cup, and others with pins in them to get leverage. It probably wouldn't be worth it to buy the tools.

    You're turning black metallic.

If you plan on reusing the BB, the way to do it is using a lockring tool to remove the lockring without damaging it, then using a pin spanner to remove the non drive side cup. The drive side can be removed with a large adjustable wrench.

If you don't mind damaging the parts while removing them, you can stick a large flathead screwdriver in one of the lockring slots, angle it in the direction you want to unscrew it in, and tap it around with a hammer. Then bend a spoke into a U shape, file the ends down if needed, and use it to unscrew the cup. Or if you're going to toss the BB anyway, clamp the exposed part of the cup with channel lock pliers or a vice-grip and unscrew it.

If the non-drive side cup is seized then you're pretty much screwed unless you have something similar to this which you can lock against the cup.
