well, it has all mountain in its name, so i'm gonna say probably not. look into the other p. series bikes. also, since this forum has all mountain in its name, i'd say check out the dj/urban/street forum

can you do dirt jumps on it? yes. Is the geometry good for it? I don't think so. assuming your a newb so I would get it. I doubt you'll excel enough in a year to feel held back by that bike.

I think thats an All Mountain / Trail Bike, I'm sure its not meant for DJ but I'm sure you can get a better answer in the DJ section,
    http://forums.mtbr.com/urban-dj-park/

The Normal P.1 is made for DJ-ing, might wanna take a look at that...

You can always look for 08 models at your LBS

    P.S
You might also wanna take a look GT Chucker, they are pretty cheap IMO, might wanna ask those DJ guys while your at it.
Upgrade what you need, not what you Want.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but your thoughts closely resemble mine on this one.
When under pressure, your level of performance will sink to your level of preparation.

+1 they're pretty good light duty dirt jumpers. with a $500 budget you should be able to find an 08 chucker 2.0
