Sexy. Nice build, other than the white grips. Never get white grips! They get so dirty and are a b*tch to clean! It's not like a white fork or frame that you can just wipe the dirt right off. Just wait till after a few rides or your first spill. You'll eventually regret it I'd imagine. In any case, how's she ride?

omg the cobalts are hot. too bad those suckers ring in at $1k msrp. jeeze.

now they're marketed as a XC/race wheelset, but I see them popping up on a lot of trail type bikes, like the XCL too. is it stiff enough to handle trail riding?

you know, you'd think i'd learned my lesson. i had white grips on the old bike & they mellowed to a nice yellow after 1 season. i'll try to keep these clean, but if they dont cooperate, i'll get some nice black ones.

i've only ridden it around the block. the weather hasn't been very good. feels plush jumping off the curb of my driveway?

Nice bike! I can't seem to get into the "Let's see thsoe AM setups" sticky either. It seems that When I log out, it lets me view it but when logged in, it comes up blank. A bit backwards it seems... Anyway that is one sweet looking ride!

Great looking bike. As to accessing the AM Setups sticky you need to set your Display Mode to Linear (under My Account you can set that mode as default so you don't have to change it post login everytime).

hey Bow. thanks! not too much actually. i got rid of the old bike to fund this one since i can't afford 2 full suspensions and a hard tail. the whole build ended up being about a $1k investment.

nice build biker! loving the spinergies.

    i got my seatpost here:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...&PartnerID=635

only issue is, i think they didnt take into account the thickness of the white powdercoat. so its a bit hard to get it into the bike. silly really.

nice! how you liking the ride?

its been raining like crazy here in MI, but on days i do get out, the thing is smooth as butter. its a bit more work getting up the hills than my hardtail, but thats to be expected. better for the lungs anyways!

Like you said the suspension is smooth. Love the Talas 32 fork especially when climbing. The bike is great just need to ride it more. Just waiting to get the wheels back from Chumba now I am having CK hubs installed.

Where did you get the white spokes? I assume they were part of the wheel build, but I'd like to change mine to white, as well... Not to copy, but to accent what i already have:

    hey dirt dude

he's got the spinergy wheels which don't use your traditional aluminum/steel spokes.

the spokes are actually made up of lots of strands of either plastic or carbon composite. They call it PBO or something.

and so it requires a special hub & rim combination and special attention when building, not sure its something you can just buy the spokes & slap it on a traditional wheel.

someone correct me if i'm wrong. that would be cool if you could just order the spokes. Then again, only spinery makes them as far as i know.

kinda late but I'm looking at an XCL, but I really don't like the aluminum look on the rear triangle. I see two bikes in here with custom powdercoated swingarms. does chumba do that? how much did it cost?

    Hey There.

Chumba does do custom powdercoating of the rear now, Alan liked the look so I think they offer it with new builds.

I'm not sure if you can just ask for a new one powdercoated, or get yours sent in to powdercoat, you'll have to check with Alan. His MTBR sn is ChumbAVEO

mine cost $100 for a local shop to do it.

    tempting...

    hey thanks affe!

don't think i haven't thought about it. haha. if i were to build a new wheelset, i'd definitely look into coordinating the color there. but at the time, i had a limited budget so the wheels are carry over from a prev bike.

hehe the only white cranks i know of are the new atlas ones and some heavy duty steel bmx ones. i really like the XT's, maybe i'll get them custom powdercoated. hmmmm oh damn this is dangerous.
