Sheesh, does anybody read the OP before throwing up a reply?
"I am looking to purchase my first high quality bike to start riding more and go on some decent flatter trails through woods etc."
Despite this being in the AM forum, he obviously doesn't need AM travel.

11 years is ooooold for a bike. I think with some effort you could get something a lot newer for that price.

375 is not that much to lose if it doesnt work out. I spent that much on dept. store bikes when I started out and realized I would have had a better bike if I did what youre thinking. I finally bought a new 2005 Prophet and have put over 13000 k on it since, If you buy that Stump, you will learn more about more modern stuff from it. Fix it up and instead of selling it when you buy your new full suss, put studded tyres on it and use it on the singletracks in the winter.
