At 2700 plus tax puts you near 3k. Id personally look for a lightly ridden bike for 3k which will yield you a top shelf build.

Are you set on a banshee rune? If so it's certainly not a bad deal. I think it would pretty difficult to build frame up under that price unless you really kept your eye out on deals.

    I love mine btw.

Problem with the Capra is it seems to always be sold out! all of the Jeffsy/Capra waiting discussion I see online makes me hesitant.

Good to know, that Tues is one hell of a bike! Back to the Rune though, any complaints? I'm looking for that one 'do it all' bike, if such a thing exists..

They've got an Eagle GX build with Pike RCT3 for 200 more if you are going that route. In for a dime, in for a dollar lol.

Its a tank! That means it's robust for just about any downhill. I wouldn't say it's the most efficient climber

I've had an air shock and a coil shock, they all work fine.

I've used everything from 160 mm to 180 mm fork. I found that the bb was too high so I decided to stick with 160. All personal preference though.

They are also a small company so you have to account for that when you're thinking customer service.

I was also looking at that one. The Eagle GX would be nice but I like the FOX suspension on the other build.

Meh.... stick with 11 speed and when you use that cassette up get the e13 and be done with gearing

would this fit the bill for "lightly used"?

Go with the Banhee you won't regret it!
How it pedals/climbs is largely down to what rear shock you're using and what chainring(s), since that figures into the anti-squat. I can vouch that the Rune pedals awesome with that float x-2 and a 32t chainring.

As for a used carbon frame vs a new banshee, that's a no-brainer in my book. Shit happens, a warranty and crash replacement option are really worth having- especially for Carbon.

What does make a difference climbing: seat angle, front center length, and can it take a waterbottle? That is my biggest complaint with Banshees, I need to wear a pack where my other bikes can take waterbottles.

Ive had a spitfire too, and the Rune pedals just as well, but the geometry is different. Spitfire feels sportier for trail riding, whereas the Rune feels a bit more upright- better for jumping and DH, but not as efficient. They're not as far apart as many people think.

Something I think a lot of people miss with Banshees is that the weight is actually quite reasonable especially given the cost. A Rune with a few carbon upgrades can end up being the similar weight and less expensive than a carbon frame with a budget build. You end up with a more durable frame that's future proof, thanks to those replaceable drop-outs.
