The Wild Hare in its natural element, ready to rip the roller coaster descent down Crow Peak, outside Spearfish, SD
Thought I would post this up for those who might be interested in such things: a 12 year old bike pieced together from random parts that still rips with the best of them. Several times this summer I have ridden past demo tents of the latest and greatest and been utterly satisfied to keep rocking my old school angel.
I stumbled across the Wild Hare during a weekend morning craigslist browsing session. Intrigued by the look of the bike, I did a bit of mtbr research and was impressed to find reviewers coming back after owing the bike for several years to rave about it all over again.
The reviews were well justified. It has been my main bike of the summer season through the Grand Valley, Crested Butte, Curt Gowdy Park and the Black Hills. I've pedaled it on xc loops, guinea pigged intermediate freeride lines, rallied shuttle runs, ripped pumptracks and sessioned dirt jumps with it and rarely has it felt out of place. It is rather skippy in chunder and babyheads (Crested Butte, Black Hills), but I think a coil shock would do wonders to broaden its rough terrain capabilities.
Anybody else have some old-school all mountain gems out there?
