    I really thought about going with your custom builder, Stout Bikes, and replicating a slightly bigger TransAM 26er frame last season when mine ended up with a cracked seat tube, especially since his pricing was great, but I started stockpiling 29er parts before any crack even developed. I should have started with a 29er from the get-go.

    In all honesty, I wouldn't really change a thing from my Kona Honzo's geometry (and frame design as well) if I was going custom today. If I was really nit picking, maybe more rear chainstay clearance for something fatter than a 2.25 Ardent, although people are running them with 2.4 or even Hans Dampf, but limited clearance. But that's the price you pay for having the shortest CS of any production All-Mountain hardtail frame. And super stoked about it not being able to run a front derailleur as well, it has made me a much stronger rider, where in the TransAM, I was more of a spinner all day long.

    If anything happened to my Honzo, I would without a doubt purchase another 2013 XL frameset. It's such a great bike and value IMO, and looks great as well. Decent paint job (better than my Transition or On-One) and decent welds as well. What more could you ask for?

    And they hit it out of the ballpark with the geometry, who knew I would be so comfortable on a 26" ETT and 50mm stem, 66.5ish HA, 74.5 SA. It may sound long and big (what I thought as well when I was building it), but the first ride for me, there's no going back to anything smaller (or similar to my previous 26er geometries). Even with these numbers, it's still an aggresive up right position you'd expect from an All-Mountain frame, and not super stretched XC position. What I love most about the 29er is being able to pick much more aggressive lines, drop my Reverb, and just sail through gnarly sections whereas before the TransAM would get caught up on bigger logs, roots, rocks etc. Another attribute I love now is being able to ride much steeper stuff and jumps without ever having the feeling of OTB and eating sh!t (no matter what stem length I had on the TransAM, this was a constant feeling I had before with it).

    Similar to the Transition TransAM as well. Only thing, 2Souls doesn't use gussets on the top tube or down tube, they use super fancy tubing eliminating them completely.

    I'm still lusting after their 29er 2Souls QH frame, but at three times the cost of a Honzo frame, with almost the exact same geometry, I'm just not there yet financially. :D

    The TransAm doesn't have adjustable dropouts though

    Duly noted, BUT I never cross shopped with the Nimble9. While the geometry may be there, it lacks other important AM features I was looking for, most importantly a 44mm headtube and dropper post friendly sized seat tube, its 27.2mm size is limited to what, only one dropper post?

    Damn, those are both nice...

    I have spent time on all three sizes and prefer 650b.
    That said, I just got done having a blast on my 26" Chameleon. :thumbsup:

    There is no wrong answer. Hell, I've run 650b front and 26" rear, as well as 29 front and 650b rear. I used to ride moto enduros, so it seems perfectly natural to me.

    I have a new lyrik that came off my enduro and I've been thinking about building up a light am ht I can use in xc races too. It fits a 650b front wheel but I think a 29er will be the better racer. Are there any 650b frames out there that are 66-67 degree hta? Maybe I should stick to the 26" hoops. Soon theyre going to be the next cool thing!!!!!

    If I was going to pick up a hardtail for trail-riding I'd also look at the Jamis Dragon 650b. Reynolds 853 steel is pretty dope with a 5" fork and slack head angle. It's got a decent spec as well:

    Forgive me. I forgot that not everyone has the slightest mechanical intuition that's required to remove a stock stem and replace it with something more appropriate for the intended use.

    And, for what it's worth, the stem is not longer than the travel of the fork.

    The 2013 complete spec is definitely an improvement over 2012 and you'd be hard to build it cheaper. BUT as mentioned, definitely build it from the frame up, way more fun and you get exactly what you want.

    Hmmm, geo is roughly the same as the Honzo that you've promoted so much. Stems are replaceable.
