Alivio chainset with 10 speed xt set up and kmc x10 light chain.

    Hi all,
hope some one can help. I'm going to be upgrading my f & r mechs, cassette and shifters to all 10 speed xt, the only part i cannot afford to change right now is the chainset. I have an alivio m430 chainset on my bike at the moment, so the question is can i run the m430 chainset with the 10 speed xt set up with no problems, as i assume the chainset is meant for a 9 speed set up. I will also be changing the chain to a kmc x10 light chain, will this also be ok to use with the 10 speed xt set up with the alivio m430 chainset.
If anyone could help that would be great as for a very limited time have 10% off shimano components, so need to get my butt in gear and make a decision.
    Thanks in advance guys

Running 10spd across a number of bikes that have 9sp chainsets without problems , save the money on the Front mech and shifter and go 1x10 at the same time that way you can get a narrow wide chainring to go on you cranks (if 104BCD).
