    Summer Tires

What summer tires do people like for riding Kincaid and Hillside? I bought a bike last year with Geax AKA 29" and they were fine with dry conditions but were pretty bad when I rode on a somewhat muddy fall day (maybe nothing would have been good). I got back into biking last year after about an 8 year hiatus. Any suggestions appreciated but I am likely on a somewhat tight budget, the new fat bike pretty blew the biking budget for this year.

A couple of popular tires would be the Racing Ralph and Rocket Ron tires.

I have run a selection of tires over the last few years ranging from semi slick XC racers to more aggressive all mountain tires. The set I have landed on for best all around use (for me) is the Butcher front/Purgatory rear combo. Very versatile, durable, good wear life, predictable edging and fair rolling resistance.

I'm running Hans Dampf/Rock Razor on my Stumpjumper just because Specialized doesn't make the Butcher/Slaughter combo in 26".

Yup. I'm purg in front slaughter rear on the 29er. Plenty of grip even in the damp soils.
