spd pedals... there not for me... LOL!!!

well, i've been giving some spd pedals a try for most of the winter... i've ridden flats forever... but last sunday, thanks to the spd pedals, i crashed!!! i got my right foot out, but i was at such an angle i couldn't get my left foot out... so down i went... that really SUCKED!!! i mean, if you crash doing a trick or something to that nature, then it's all good... but to crash because of something stupid, it SUCKS!!! i was going to put caged spd's on my fr/dh bike. but NO way now... spd pedals are cool, there just not for me. i move my feet around too much... plus, i like to just bale went i need to, and not think of having to twist my foot out, etc... i notice with the spd's i didn't ride as hard as i normally do too... i know, i know... my friends tell me you get use to them, blah blah blah... LOL!!! thanks but NO thanks...

You may want to try a pedal like the crank brothers mallet c.With these you could disengage from and still ride on sections were you are less comfortable being clicked in.Eventually you will find yourself wondering why you you ever rode with anything else,(at least this is how it was for me).

    Mallet C's

Yep, what he said. I REALLY do not feel comfortable riding clipped-in over challenging technical stuff and I've taken falls because I couldn't get my foot "out" fast enough. But with the Mallet C's I can unclip (easily) before the section, ride the platforms while I talk with God and then clip in for the efficiency on easy spins.

hey, thanks for the reply... yeah, i just feel better unclipped... at parts of the trail i thought i might get into trouble, i did unclipped and rode threw that section, then clipped back in... i just rather keep my flats... i put all my clip less items on eBay... there's a few angles that you just can not clip out of. i don't like that feeling...
