Well...... We've got a cabin for Saturday night, but I haven't yet registered for the race. I'm holding off hoping to get some input from anyone with first hand beta on the current course condition. I'm afraid with the current warming trend, that is supposed to remain in place, we'll be pushing the bikes in soft snow. How are the grooming efforts coming along? Will all those efforts yield a ridable course with another 5 days of warm weather?
    thanks in advance,
    c

Just heard back from one of the course packer/groomers. He says that the warm temps will help, as the snow needed more moisture. A new look at the forecast shows a few nights dipping into the teens this week. I'm guessing that'll also aid in setting things up. A big thanks to those that have been going out to Talkeetna in their spare time to keep the route packed. No small feat I'm sure.

I am going up with Tony from Back-country Cycles tomorrow to do some laps on the snowmachines. Ralph who owns the Talkeetna Bike shop is packing every day till the race. With the cold temps course should set up nice.

Thanks for the update. I've been excited about this race, I'm hoping we dont get snowed out, like you I dont want to be out pushing my bike 20 miles through the snow.

Several cans of beer can't make fun.

It was a great race, thanks to everyone who helped put it on! Are the results available somewhere?

We will post results here shortly. We have all the data, but the timing program automatically lists a DNF for anyone who did not complete the distance they signed up for, even though it keeps track of time and distance. There were NO DNF's in this race, so we just have to convert it before sending it electronically. Patrick is finishing up with that this morning. Thanks to all the competitors and volunteers for their tremendous efforts.

1st place first lap quitter in my age group! I feel like a champion.

I had a blast. Thanks Greg, Tony, Ralph and all the volunteers and groomers for putting the race on, and big thanks to Denali Brewing and Talkeetna for making the whole event phenomenal. 10 degrees colder and that course would be incredible. I'm still blown away by Chelf, Berntson and Oatley managing sub 8 hours for three laps in those conditions.

Yes, way to go everyone. Sounds like it was tough, so thanks for supporting this inaugural event. See you next year?
